What Size Metal Bed Do I Need?

Metal Bunk BedOur beds are available as headboards only, or as complete sets. Complete sets are defined as those that include a headboard, footboard, wood frames or side rails, and, in some cases, a canopy. We represent the finest iron bed manufacturers. Each of them conforms to the current United Kingdom’s standard for common sizes. Bed height and bed frame sizes may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer due to their hand crafted nature, but both mattresses and frames are constructed to exhibit some degree of flexibility for a better fit.

Frame Dimensions for Metal Beds

3ft Single Bed 90 x 190 cm

Single size beds are most often used in children’s rooms and guest bedrooms.

It’s a narrow bed that’s easy to make and can fit almost anywhere.

4ft Small Double Beds 120 x 190 cm

4ft Small Double beds are just 12″ wider than a Single bed. This won’t leave much elbow room for 2 adults, since each person will have only 24″ of width (vs. 36″ for one person in a 3ft single bed).

Also, a Small Double bed is only 72″ long which may be too short for some adults.

4ft 6inch Double Beds 135 x 190 cm

Double beds are 4`6″ wider and 6″ wider than a Small Double size bed. These added inches can make all the difference in comfort, but each adult still has 9″ less than if they slept alone in a standard Twin bed.

However, Double Bed 135 x 190 cm is a good choice for guest rooms and smaller master bedrooms, and for couples who prefer close quarters.

5ft King Size Beds 150 x 200 cm

Standard 5ft Kingsize beds are 12″ wider and 20 cm longer as Double bed. A Kingsize bed comes with one mattress and two half-width box springs to be more manageable when moving.

Apart from these sizes of Metal Beds, there are some different sizes used by Ikea for Metal Beds and sold in Europe too. Called European sizes which are totally different than the UK standard sizes.
